Academic and Career Planning

Academic and Career Planning, or ACP, is a student-driven, adult-supported process in which students create and cultivate their own unique and information-based visions for post-secondary success, obtained through self-exploration, career exploration, and the development of career management and planning skills.

  • We acknowledge the challenge of planning for the future with many students who feel pressured and unprepared to do such planning, yet we also believe strongly that planning for the future is essential to maximizing a student's high school experience. Therefore, we artfully attempt to bring the future into focus enough so that our students can make confident, well-informed decisions about the future while also doing our best to honor the present and encouraging each student to enjoy the journey.

It is a student-centered process of developing workplace values, skills, personal qualities, and knowledge of one's postsecondary pathway.

Big Foot High School graduates create an Academic and Career Planning Portfolio using Xello through their HS Career. During their senior year, students will produce a presentation that demonstrates their readiness for postsecondary education and/or employment success.

Presentations include an introduction, review of self-knowledge assessments, career exploration, academic and co-curricular highlights, certifications, work-based learning experiences, service learning, and a resume.

Student Presentations are completed during the spring of their senior year with their family members, community, members and various staff members as their audience.
